Find a centre and confirm the booking
Use Norsk Test’s test-centre finder to search by place or address, open a centre’s contact details and arrange a time. A location on the map is not a confirmed booking.
Consider travel time, availability and any adjustments you need. If a provider offers a course and exam on the same day, ask which parts are included and how the exam appointment is confirmed.
Taking the exam in English
You can choose English when you start the official exam at the test centre. Tell the centre your preferred language when arranging the appointment so that practical instructions are clear too.
If you do not have a Norwegian national identity number (fødselsnummer), contact the test centre to arrange registration. Avoid guessing which number to enter in an online form.
Make a personal checklist
Bring approved identification. The exam uses the centre’s computer or tablet; you cannot use your own. Ask the centre to confirm the remaining arrangements before travelling.
- Your appointment time, the exact address and when to arrive.
- The identification accepted for your registration.
- How to pay the current official fee and whether the centre charges separately.
- What equipment you should bring and what is provided.
- Any agreed adjustments and the documents needed beforehand.
Practise using the permitted aids
The permitted aids include the exam chart collection, a calculator, ruler or parallel/rolling ruler, dividers, pen or pencil and scrap paper. Confirm what the centre supplies instead of assuming that every item will be available to borrow.
Before the exam, practise measuring a distance, plotting a course and converting minutes to hours. Use enough space to keep your working legible. A consistent sequence makes it easier to find a mistake than a page of unlabelled numbers.
During the exam and when you need adjustments
Read the test leader’s instructions before starting. Ask about the test system or practical arrangements if anything is unclear. For each question, identify what it asks and which facts it supplies before comparing the options. In calculations, show the intermediate steps and units.
