Changes to accepted identification

Bank cards, Norwegian Armed Forces ID cards and Norwegian seafarers’ discharge books will no longer be accepted at driver and vehicle licensing offices. This is shown as a future rule and does not change current answers before it takes effect.

Learn the system before individual details

Start with the sign groups and how shapes, colours and symbols are used. Then compare signs you confuse. Explain the distinction before checking the answer, and consult the course's source material when uncertain.

Read supplementary plates and road markings together

A picture of one sign may not show the complete situation. Look for supplementary plates, lane information, arrows and other controls. Practise combining the information before deciding on an action.

A short sign-practice session

  • Choose five signs from a group you find difficult.
  • Explain their meanings without relying only on their names.
  • Describe a place where you might encounter each one.
  • Say what you would change about your speed, position or plan.
  • Mix these signs with another group in your next session.

Connect the knowledge with driving

Your supervisor can ask about a sign at a quiet moment, provided this does not distract from driving. Discuss the situation after the journey when traffic needs your full attention. The aim is to notice information early enough to use it.

Select the appropriate category in the course. A sign may require additional decisions when you drive a heavy or large vehicle.

What the theory course includes

706 questions in total, including road-sign practice, all with explanations, plus 72 lessons. Study in Norwegian or English on your phone or computer. Access costs NOK 399 for 6 months (183 days), with no automatic renewal.

  • A learning plan helps you choose your next topic.
  • Topic practice and situation exercises connect theory with decisions.
  • An error bank, spaced review and mock tests show what to revisit.
  • Progress is saved to your account and follows you across devices.

Road-sign practice is included. The questions are written for learning and are not the official test bank. Mandatory driver training and official test fees are separate.
