Car driving licence in Norway – category B
Category B covers ordinary cars up to 3,500 kg and up to eight passengers in addition to the driver. You normally obtain the licence from age 18. Towing a trailer requires a separate check of the combined permitted weights and the vehicle limits.

Bank cards, Norwegian Armed Forces ID cards and Norwegian seafarers’ discharge books will no longer be accepted at driver and vehicle licensing offices. This is shown as a future rule and does not change current answers before it takes effect.

From a free car-theory sample to test preparation
Start with ten category B questions and read each explanation. Sort mistakes into right of way, signs, speed and vehicle knowledge. Pick one weak topic and explain the rule before trying another test. A good short sample result is a starting point, not evidence that you have covered the full syllabus.
Distinguish the ages for learner driving, the theory test and the licence itself. The ordinary B theory test can be taken from 17½, while the licence is available from 18. Passing theory still leaves the required training and practical test to complete. Online practice supports this process.
How to prepare
Build your understanding of observation, right of way, road signs and speed selection. After a lesson, choose one junction and explain which information influenced your decision. Change one detail and consider whether your answer changes.

Using the online course
Choose English in the course view and work through the reading and practice questions. Explain your decisions before checking the answer. Keep a short list of Norwegian terms you need to recognise, such as vikeplikt, tillatt totalvekt and veigrep.
The practice questions are written for learning. They are not the confidential questions used by Statens vegvesen. A good practice score helps identify progress but does not guarantee a pass.
Training, prices and official requirements
Kurskompis provides optional theory practice. Driving lessons, mandatory courses, medical requirements and official tests are separate. For motorcycle categories, the course is shared between A1, A2 and A. YSK practice is not approved initial or periodic CPC training.
Before booking, confirm the category, your age and existing entitlements with an approved driving school or Statens vegvesen. Ask for an itemised training quote rather than assuming that a theory-course price is the total licence cost.
