English is not offered for the ordinary T, C1, C, CE, D1, D or Driver CPC tests. You can apply for an interpreter-assisted oral test in category T. Statens vegvesen does not allow an interpreter for C1, C, CE, D1 or D, or for Driver CPC. Preparing in English does not change the official test language.
Read a short section in the language you understand best, then note the Norwegian terms: vikeplikt means the duty to give way, tillatt totalvekt means maximum authorised mass, and veigrep means road grip. Explain a situation in your strongest language before practising the wording you may meet in the test.
Choose Norwegian or English in the Kurskompis course and use the language switch when a term is unclear. The aim is to understand the same traffic decision in both languages, rather than memorise two sets of answer choices.
An interpreter-assisted test requires an application and documentation. If approved, you must book and pay for the interpreter yourself. Interpreter eligibility depends on the category, as described above. A separate assisted oral test with an examiner also requires an application and documentation; some listed test centres offer this with an English-speaking examiner.
English is not offered for the ordinary C1, C or CE tests, and Statens vegvesen does not allow an interpreter for heavy-category theory tests.
