Open the primary source ↗Category T is a national Norwegian category available from age 16. The usual entitlement covers tractors designed for up to 40 km/h and a combined permitted weight up to 25,000 kg. Codes and experience can change the entitlement.
Checked against Statens vegvesen curricula, theory-test information and current regulations. Future rules are kept separate from requirements currently in force.

For tractors, design speed, masses and licence codes matter. Category T without an extension is not a general entitlement for every agricultural tractor. Compare the licence, registration document and trailer before choosing a vehicle. An ATV registered as a tractor follows tractor rules.
When practising theory, use an actual vehicle combination as an example. Explain where to find its mass ratings, how equipment affects visibility and stability, and how to plan a left turn with traffic behind. The T sample introduces these decisions; practical training is additional.
Connect theory to stability, visibility, implements and trailers. Explain why lifting a load does not necessarily make transporting it safe. Check the licence codes and vehicle documents before using a different tractor.
45 questions · 90 minutes · at least 38 correct.
English is not offered for the ordinary category T theory test. You may apply for an interpreter-assisted oral test; approval requires documentation, and you must book and pay for the interpreter yourself.
Choose English in the course view and work through the reading and practice questions. Explain your decisions before checking the answer. Keep a short list of Norwegian terms you need to recognise, such as vikeplikt, tillatt totalvekt and veigrep.
The practice questions are written for learning. They are not the confidential questions used by Statens vegvesen. A good practice score helps identify progress but does not guarantee a pass.
Kurskompis provides optional theory practice. Driving lessons, mandatory courses, medical requirements and official tests are separate. For motorcycle categories, the course is shared between A1, A2 and A. YSK practice is not approved initial or periodic CPC training.
Before booking, confirm the category, your age and existing entitlements with an approved driving school or Statens vegvesen. Ask for an itemised training quote rather than assuming that a theory-course price is the total licence cost.
642 questions in total, including road-sign practice, all with explanations, plus 36 lessons. Study in Norwegian or English on your phone or computer. Access costs NOK 299 for 6 months (183 days), with no automatic renewal.
Road-sign practice is included. The questions are written for learning and are not the official test bank. Mandatory driver training and official test fees are separate.
No. It supports theory study. You must satisfy the official training and test requirements.
No. Kurskompis uses its own practice questions and explanations.
Ordinary category T covers tractors with a maximum design speed of 40 km/h. Higher speeds require an appropriate extension or other entitlement, such as a relevant code. Also check any mass limits attached to that code.
The ordinary T test has 45 questions and requires at least 38 correct answers, allowing up to 7 mistakes. The time limit is 90 minutes. This is the official format, not the ten-question sample.
Requirements last reviewed against the linked official sources on 28 October 2026. Confirm personal entitlements and exceptions with Statens vegvesen.
