Match the entitlement to the vehicle and trailer. Consider CPC separately for professional transport.

Ordinary theory test
45 questions · 120 minutes · 38 correct

Load calculations and road lists: explain the whole decision

For load questions, first identify what is being asked: payload, axle load, total mass or a permitted route. Use consistent units and check the answer against both vehicle and road information. A calculation can be correct while another restriction still prevents the transport.

The official C test supplies a road list marked “Teoriprøve”, a calculator, load-calculation paper and a pen or pencil. Practise finding relevant information rather than remembering a number. Check CE for heavy trailers and CPC where your transport work requires it.

How to prepare

Work through loading, axle weights, route restrictions, brakes and blind spots. Use one delivery as an example: plan the approach, turn, unloading location and exit. Professional transport may require Driver CPC, known as YSK, in addition to the licence.

Theory test and language

45 questions · 120 minutes · at least 38 correct.

English is not offered for the ordinary category C theory test. Statens vegvesen also states that interpreter-assisted tests are not available for heavy categories, including C. Ask about an assisted oral test with an examiner if you need other support.

Using the online course

Choose English in the course view and work through the reading and practice questions. Explain your decisions before checking the answer. Keep a short list of Norwegian terms you need to recognise, such as vikeplikt, tillatt totalvekt and veigrep.

The practice questions are written for learning. They are not the confidential questions used by Statens vegvesen. A good practice score helps identify progress but does not guarantee a pass.

Training, prices and official requirements

Kurskompis provides optional theory practice. Driving lessons, mandatory courses, medical requirements and official tests are separate. For motorcycle categories, the course is shared between A1, A2 and A. YSK practice is not approved initial or periodic CPC training.

Before booking, confirm the category, your age and existing entitlements with an approved driving school or Statens vegvesen. Ask for an itemised training quote rather than assuming that a theory-course price is the total licence cost.

What the theory course includes

740 questions in total, including road-sign practice, all with explanations, plus 36 lessons. Study in Norwegian or English on your phone or computer. Access costs NOK 499 for 6 months (183 days), with no automatic renewal.

  • A learning plan helps you choose your next topic.
  • Topic practice and situation exercises connect theory with decisions.
  • An error bank, spaced review and mock tests show what to revisit.
  • Progress is saved to your account and follows you across devices.

Road-sign practice is included. The questions are written for learning and are not the official test bank. Mandatory driver training and official test fees are separate.
